My latest quilt is finished! My wonderful husband came up with the perfect name for it... La Casa.
Hand-quilted wall-hanging, entitled La Casa - for more details, click HERE
So what will I do with myself for the rest of the day? Well, I've been invited to be a featured artist at a Christmastime event at Frontier Homestead Museum! The only glitch is that "period appropriate dress" is encouraged. I need a pioneer dress! So last night, we went out on a 'date' and purchased about a mile and a half of material and a pattern. This will be a new-old experience.... I can't tell you how long it's been since I made something from a pattern. Pictures tomorrow - I promise! Have a good evening everyone!
The quilting is done! Tomorrow, this wall-hanging will get binding and hanging sleeves, and it will be finished! And why, you ask, aren't I doing this today? Because I want black binding and I don't have enough of any black material! So a trip to the fabric store is in my future!
My apologies for not posting for over two months - honestly, I can't believe it's been that long. But those of you who have been with me for a while know that I won't post unless I have something to say!
In the last two months, we've done three different shows, which led to two completely different quilt commissions. I just love working with people to get an idea out of their heads and into reality. The first one was this:
As I said.... completely different. Here's the second one:
Interesting to me, the buyers of the first quilt above rejected my favorite sketch - their prerogative, of course. So here's the quilt I'm working on right now:
I think it is so very interesting that these two desert scene quilts are so different, even though they incorporate many of the same features. So far, the sky and the horizon are quilted. With any luck, this one will be finished this week.
Nothing else to say right now. I will post pictures when this most recent quilt is done.
